KDC at Rich Mix Youth Takeover Festival 2016
July 6, 2016Kamala Devam Company is offering a FREE introduction to its acrobatic, contemporary Indian dance language through a fun, safe and inspiring dance workshop.
This dance workshop is based on Kamala Devam Company’s current touring work Ankusha, a trio combining the classical South Asian dance form Bharatanatyam, contemporary dance and striking acrobatic movement.
Participants will learn how to trust each other in acrobatic partnering exercises and how to be accountable for their own safety. With the guidance of KDC dancer-coaches, they will be confident in performing new and exciting movement skills, will be inspired by the rich, classical movement tradition of Bharata Natyam and work together to create their own unique choreography using KDC’s choreographic methods.
Workshops will be led by Kamala Devam, KDC Artistic Director (currently lecturing at University of East London, Dance: Urban Practice programme) and dancer Tamzen Moulding (gymnastics coach, professional acrobat and teacher at the National Centre for Circus Arts).
